The Karnataka state award for 2013 best actor award goes to Nikil Manju for ‘Hajj’ (he also bags best first film award) while Nivedhita alias Smitha gets the first award as best actress for her sterling performance in ‘December 1’ Kannada cinema.

NATIONAL AWARD TO SANCHARI VIJAY

After three decades a Kannadiga is getting the third national award for acting. That is Sanchari Vijay armed with Bachelor of Engineering degree is a lecturer in KIET Polytechnic bags the prestigious national award for his performance ‘Naanu Avanalla Avalu’ (a film on transgender directed by BS Lingadevaru based on I am Vidya, an autobiography of Living Smile Vidya. Tamil Selvi, had translated I am Vidya).

I AM STRUGGLER – SANCHARI VIJAY

The youngster from Kannada film Sanchari Vijay who made the Kannada cinema industry proud from his National award for ‘Naanu Avanalla Avalu’ at the recent 62^nd National Film Awards announcement says he is still a struggler.

ATTHI HANNU TO BEIJING FEST

Director M S Prakash Babu novel thought film ‘Atthi Hannu Maththu Kanaja’ (Fig Fruit and the wasps) has secured a place at the Beijing International film festival. Earlier the film was selected at the Mumbai International festival of India Gold competition.

The Beijing festival is scheduled from April 16 to 23 and this is the only Indian film to get an entry.

RAVI VERMA GETS CROWN

The dashing and swashbuckling action director from Karnataka making it big in Hindi cinema Ravi Verma is given the title of ‘Sahasa Sarvabowma’ by his fans. The title for Ravi Verma starts from just released ‘Ranavikrama’ starring Puneeth Rajakumar.

INDIRA LANKESH GETS AWARD

The annual Dr B Saroja Devi for prominent women writer given in the name of his daughter Bhuvaneshwari was bestowed on Smt Indira Lankesh, wife of illustrious writer, director of Kannada films P Lankesh. Smt Indira Lankesh is mother of top directors Indrajith Lankesh and Kavitha Lankesh plus Gauri Lankesh heading the tabloid of her father.

DOCTORATE TO NAGATHI AND BYRAPPA

One of the senior most literary personalities Dr SL Byrappa adds one more honorary doctorate to his kitty from Mysuru University. A writer and director Nagathihalli Chandrasekhar of high reputation also gets the honorary doctorate from Mysuru University at the 95^th annual convocation that was attended by Karnataka governor Vajubhai R Vala and others.

‘LUCIA’ IN KARACHI

The Pawan Kumar directed film ‘Lucia’ that was in Tamil language and released recently is reaching various places. For the first time the people of Karachi in Pakistan viewed this Kannada film. This is the first crowd funded film making it big in Kannada was screened in London, Zurich, Paris, USA, Singapore, Australia and other countries.

It was a colorful and star studded Zee Kannada music awards at BGS Auditorium in Bengaluru a few days ago. The felicitation extended to legendaries of light music was applauded.

KIMA AWARDS AUG 2

The 3^rd Kannada International Music Awards 2015 (KIMA) awards organized by Taurian will be presented on August 2^nd at Dr Ambedkar Bhavan in Bengaluru.

The voting that was open via online was received from countries such as Australia, China, Germany, Indonesia, Ireland, Kuwait, Singapore, UAE, USA and many parts of India. In all 29 awards that include four special awards will be given away at a glittering function.

Aryabhata Cultural Association has instituted the honour. Kichcha Sudeep was also honoured on this occasion with Sri Raghavendra Sadbhavana trophy on the auspicious occasion of Sri Raghavendra Swamy Aradhane.

Sri Raghavendra Chitravani Sudheendra Venkatesh received the crown, garland, trophy, fruit basket at the felicitation.

SOWCAR JANAKI RAJYOTSAVA AWARD

The annual Kannada Rajyotsava award was announced on October 31 and given away on November 1. It was the 60^th year Kannada Rajyotsava awards. From cinema fraternity out of sixty personality’s four eminent personalities – Sowcar Janaki, Sadashiva Brahmavar, Sadhu Kokila and Shani Manadevappa received the honors. For all the four it was well deserved award.

SA RA GOVINDU KFCC PRESIDENT

It is a clean sweep from Sa Ra Govindu team at the 59^th Karnataka Film Chamber of Election. Sa Ra Govindu won by a comfortable margin of over 250 votes defeating his rival Ba Ma Harish.

‘THITHI’ GETS AWARD

At the 17^th Mumbai film Festival the Kannada film ‘Thithi’ by Ram Reddy of Bengaluru was given the judges award at the valedictory day of seven days film festival. 58 countries, 200 films were in the contest for the prestigious awards.
